Part 2: Bust boosting bras for bigger busts - spotlight on the Freya "Deco"!

In my last blog, I wrote about the best cleavage-enhancing bras for smaller busts and this time, my focus is on bigger busts. Although busty ladies may not want a padded bra, there are options out there for enhancing those curves! For the bigger busted lady, a bust-boosting bra may be more about shape and lift, whilst creating a gorgeous silhouette under clothing!
I've been wanting to blog about this bra for a long time, so this post seems the perfect place to do it. The bra I am talking about, was the first ever bra that I bought after I was re-measured in Bravissimo as a 28FF. Since that day, this bra continues to be my favourite bra and is an absolute staple for any larger busted lady! The best thing, is that starting at a 28 inch back and going up to a GG, it really encompasses a wide range of sizes...I am, of course, talking about the Freya "Deco" bra (£30).

The "Deco" comes in lots of great colours, but black and nude make for very versatile shades that will be perfect for the vast majority of your wardrobe:

If you're looking for something a little bit more eye-catching, then the "Deco" also comes in charcoal, lupin, pomegranate and most recently pistachio:

Freya have also brought out 'Frida', 'Lydia' and recently 'Carly', which are based on the same design as the classic "Deco":

As a moulded plunge bra, you can expect the "Deco" to be extremely flattering, giving a great rounded shape and superb uplift. All versions of the "Deco" are totally seamless under clothing, giving a stream-lined shape and fabulous cleavage. To top it off, this is one of the most soft and comfortable bras ever and ideal for everyday wear, as well as for a night out! The straps are relatively wide, which is perfect for supporting larger cup sizes, but wouldn't work so well under thin-strapped tops or dresses.
Size-wise, I must mention that I (like many other people who have tried this bra) find that the cups are on the generous side, so you may need to size down - I bought a 28F, although I am a 28FF in most bras that I buy. The Bravissimo website reviews also mention that the back size for the "Deco" comes up a little loose, although I did not find this to be an issue myself. (Just a few pointers, if you are thinking of buying the "Deco"!)

I really can't recommend this bra enough. It is one of the few bras that I can really see myself purchasing again and again. Here is my current collection - my favourite has got to be the Frida!

I have also heard that Freya is bringing out a concealed padding version of the Freya "Deco" for this Autumn/Winter - this may not be for everyone, but is certainly great for those that like a bit of extra va-va-voom! Another "Deco" to look out for this A/W is the "Taylor" bra - I am certainly adding this beauty to my wishlist:

That's all for this time..I think a Part 3 is definitely in order! There are some other great bras that I am keen to review for bigger busts, so stay tuned for more reviews!

Love,
Kitty xo

  1. I just added my 3rd Deco to the collection! I love this bra so much. I found back TTS yet went 1-cup above for comfort and "safety" (no pop-outs)!

Since the last photo of strapless 'Taylor' I must ask if you've had chance to try Strapless Deco? Curious how the sizing runs on it.

  2. Hi FF30g,

Thanks for your comment - I'm glad you're also a fan of the 'Deco'! Did you mean you found the band size ok, but needed a bigger cup size in this bra?

I've actually got two of the strapless 'Deco' bras (Review will be on its way). I bought a size 28F and 28FF and found the 28FF fits me better in the cups. It doesn't seem to run too big in the cups as I found with the standard 'Deco' plunge, so def no need to size down in the cups. I would say order your usual size. If you needed to go up a cup size in the standard 'Deco', it might be worth doing the same for the strapless?

If you're not sure, then it's probably worth ordering the two sizes you think you may be. You can always send one back! :)

    Hope this helps!

  3. Hi Undercover Lingerista,

Loving the review on Deco! It's one of our best sellers and perfect to wear under figure hugging clothing.

The pistachio colour is simply delicious if you're looking for something a little different. We can't wait to get our hands on the new Taylor collection either...

We stock the entire Deco collection online at www.leialingerie.com if anyone is looking for further info.

    Best Wishes,

  4. Hi Leia,

Thank you for the message! It doesn't surprise me at all that the 'Deco' is one of your best-sellers! I really can't get enough of this bra and love all the new colours and designs that are being brought out.

Once you've found a winning combination, it's a great idea to build on it. I love the look of the Pistachio and am so excited for the 'Taylor' collection to come out - I will definitely have to get one and review it!

Leia Lingerie has a great range of 'Deco' bras available (and other bras for that matter!) - I actually managed to snap up the 'Frida' bra from your outlet section! It's without a doubt one of my favourite bras of all time, so will definitely be keeping my eye on the colours that are in stock on your site (the 'Lupin' purple is fab!)

  7. Where did you find the Frida in a 28 band? I can't find it anywhere.

  8. Hi Anon,

I found the Freya "Frida" as a one off on www.leialingerie.com, but it's always worth having a look on ebay. If it's any help, I found a 28FF and 28G here:

Let me know if the link was helpful or if you need any help tracking it down in a different cup size!

  9. I am one of those women who can't wear the deco. I fall out in the middle and my boobs run free.
Such a shame because I can't find anything that will give me some nice umpf

  10. Hi Lindana,

Sorry to hear that the 'Deco' wasn't a good style for you! If you have quite a large bust, perhaps you'd get on better with something like the 'smoothing seamfree bra' by Fantasie:

    http://www.bravissimo.com/products/lingerie/t-shirt-bras/smoothing-seamfree-bra/nude/fa14nu/?show=16&sort=1

It looks quite similar to the 'Deco' in that it is very smoothing, but it does not plunge as much as the 'Deco' in the centre. You may find you don't fall out because of the higher centre.

A lot of people have said that the 'Retro Basic' bra by Freya is also good for cleavage, but it is again quite a plunging style. It may be worth a try though:

    http://www.bravissimo.com/products/lingerie/sensational-sets/retro-basic-bra/white/fya1wh/?show=16&sort=1

If you're looking for 'oomph', then I'd personally recommend the Curvy Kate 'Thrill me' and 'Tease me' bras - They give very good uplift and are also very pretty! I have a review of both on the way!

    Hope you found this helpful!

  11. Yay for another great review on the Deco!
One thing to note, though, is that while the bra goes up to a GG, the 28 bands stop at G (as is often the case with bras, it seems), so there's no 28GG. It does seem like everyone has a slightly different opinion on how the bra fits. I found that it runs big in the band for me, and maybe slightly large in the cup. I get by with a 30FF tightened all the way up or a 28G, but I think a 28GG would be more ideal for me. If only they made a 28 back for all the cup sizes!

  12. Hi Christine,

Thanks for your comment - the 'Deco' is definitely a favourite of mine. It is unfortunate that it does not go up to a GG in the 28 band. I have heard from quite a few people that they wish that the 'Deco' was available above a 28G and above a GG in other back sizes too! The 'Deco' is one of those staple styles that most curvy ladies would love to have in their underwear drawer. Maybe if we ask Freya nicely enough, they might expand the range, so more ladies can appreciate the 'Deco' and its curve-flattering brilliance!

  13. I'm quite confused as to how a 28FF is considered a big size?

    1. Hi Anon,

While a 28 inch band is a fairly small back/ ribcage size, the ratio of bust to band is what makes this a larger cup size. A 28FF indicates a larger bust:band ratio, although the cup volume is equivalent to say a 34DD (but this would be on a lady with a larger ribcage/broader back.)

Interestingly also, from a mainstream perspective, highstreet lingerie stores tend to start their 'fuller bust/ larger cup' ranges from a DD+.

      Hope that answered your question.

      Kitty xo
